CDs 1-2 – Carnegie Hall, 2 December 1940. The first concert ever recorded by Yehudi Menuhin: Bach E major Concerto, BWV 1042, Brahms Concerto, and Paganini Concerto No.1. Complemented by a rare document: Londonderry Air and Sarasate’s Romanza andaluza, recorded live in the US in the 1940s.

CDs 3-4 – Les Riches Heures du Festival de Prades, established by Pablo Casals. The complete Brahms trios with Istomin and Casals (this CD is new to the Menuhin discography); Mozart’s Violin Sonata, K376 with Horszowski; the Schumann Trio with Horszowski and Casals (1955-1956).

CD5 – The concerto Menuhin commissioned from the Hungarian-Israeli composer Ödön Pártos, recorded in Israel, and Bach’s Concerto, BWV 1052R, not otherwise available in Menuhin’s discography, recorded at the Ascona Festival in 1972.

CD6 – A BBC recording, made in 1968 in Edinburgh, of the Britten Concerto (a work new to Menuhin’s discography) with the London Symphony Orchestra and István Kertész.

CD7 – Appearing for the first time on CD: recordings made at Menuhin’s festival in bath of works by Stravinsky, Hindemith, Bartók, Corelli, and Tippett. Read less
